Valérie Jacobs
Valérie was a prolific artist and passionate educator whose creative spirit spanned more than six decades.
Born in Chicago to Hosanna “Rougée” Olivier and Richard Jacobs, she graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1956 and later earned her MA from San Francisco State University.
She raised three children and devoted much of her life to teaching art, particularly to children. In 1985, she met fellow artist Kevyn Lutton, beginning a lifelong personal and artistic partnership.
Valérie’s work was exhibited in major galleries across the U.S., including the M.H. de Young Museum, SOMArts, and the Verba Buena Center. A devoted activist and animal lover, especially of senior rescues, Valérie’s life was marked by creativity, compassion, and community engagement.
